11-12-2024 News Snippet ( BBC News ) The founder of a flood action group has accused her council of removing support, saying residents are now "basically on our own". Lis Dales, from Castle Street Community Flood Action Group in Kendal, Cumbria, said the change could put lives at risk and was "bordering on the negligent". Other community groups in the county have raised concerns, saying that more could be done to protect people.

What a relief to still have loads of space upstream. Thanks to the pumps at Penrith Road and Elliott Park I think many folk have less to worry about these days. The BBC said we'd had 62mm of rain in town yesterday but it was managed. The new storage pond at Springs Road clearly helps hold back water across town, gradually releasing it to the river. 15-11-2024 The National Flood Forum In an article published this morning the Government has committed to looking at the funding for flood schemes. This is something we have long been pushing for and we are keen to know more about the Government's plans and ensuring that flooded peoples voices are heard in any consultation. 15-11-2024 The National Flood Forum In an article published this morning the Government has committed to looking at the funding for flood schemes. Last year in Appleby, combined sewer outflows into the River Eden saw 46 spills. At Kirkby Stephen on the River Eden, there were 135 spills. At Staveley on the River Kent, there were 283 spills. At Tebay on the River Lune, there were 124 spills.-" You've got to wonder why the Rivers Trust aren't publicising those figures themselves! 1 3-1 0-2024 The Flood Hub Quarterly Newsletter (Issued 19.
